Samuel Marsden 

(1765-1838) 

Samuel Marsden was an English Anglican priest sent to Australia in 1794 as chaplain to the New South Wales penal colony.

From there, God used him to open the door for the gospel among the Māori people of New Zealand.

He was a key Anglican missionary figure in the South Pacific. He’s best remembered as the founder of Christian mission work in New Zealand

What did Samuel Marsden do for God in ministry?

1.Pioneer missionary to New Zealand

•Organized and supported the first Christian mission to New Zealand

•Preached the first Christian sermon in New Zealand on 25 December 1814
