PURPOSE
God’s Purpose
1.His Purpose is His Promise
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
1.God’s Purpose Is Eternal
Verse: “According to the eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Ephesians 3:11)
- Explanation: God’s purpose is not temporary or reactive—it was set before creation. His plan in Christ is the foundation of all His promises. Because His purpose is eternal, His promises are unshakable.
2.His Promises Flow From His Purpose
Verse: “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)
- Explanation: Every promise God gives is rooted in His purpose to redeem and restore. Christ is the guarantee that God’s promises are not empty words but fulfilled realities.
3.His Purpose Secures Our Future
Verse: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
- Explanation: God’s purpose is not only cosmic but personal. His promise of hope and future flows from His purposeful design for each life.
5.His Purpose Is Fulfilled in Christ
Verse: “He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will.” (Ephesians 1:5)
- Explanation: God’s purpose was always to bring us into His family. His promise of adoption, restoration, and inheritance is guaranteed because His purpose delights in saving us.
Note:-
- Purpose: God’s eternal plan in Christ.
- Promise: The assurance that His plan will be fulfilled in us.
- Connection: Because His purpose cannot fail, His promises cannot be broken.
2.His Purpose needs Partnership
Live for Christ and die for Christ
1.Partnership with God Himself
1 Corinthians 3:9 – “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.”
Paul emphasizes that believers are co-workers with God. Our purpose is not independent; it is tied to God’s ongoing work of building His kingdom.
- Explanation: God could accomplish His will alone, but He chooses to involve us, giving dignity to our labor and making us participants in His divine plan.
2.John 15:5 – “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
Partnership begins with abiding in Christ. Fruitfulness flows from connection, not self-effort.
- Explanation: Our purpose is fulfilled only when we remain in partnership with Jesus, drawing life from Him.
3.Partnership with Fellow Believers
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 – “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow…”
Kingdom work is designed to be shared. Partnership strengthens resilience and multiplies impact.
- Explanation: God’s purpose is not for isolated individuals but for a community of believers who support and encourage one another.
Philippians 1:5 – “For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now.”
Paul thanks the Philippians for their partnership in the gospel.
- Explanation: The church’s mission advances through collective effort—prayer, giving, serving, and proclaiming together.
4.Partnership in Marriage and Family
Genesis 2:18 – “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
Marriage itself is a divine partnership designed to reflect God’s purpose.
- Explanation: Families are meant to be mini-kingdom communities, where God’s love and mission are lived out and passed on to children.
Joshua 24:15 – “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Partnership in the home is foundational for kingdom service.
- Explanation: God’s purpose extends through households that commit together to His work.
5.Partnership through Spiritual Gifts
Romans 12:4-6 – “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ…”
Each believer has a unique role, but together we form one body.
- Explanation: Partnership means recognizing that no one has all the gifts; we need each other to fulfill God’s purpose.
Ephesians 4:16 – “From whom the whole body fitly joined together… maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
The church grows through interconnected partnership.
- Explanation: God’s kingdom advances when believers use their gifts in harmony.
6.Partnership in Mission
Matthew 28:19-20 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”
The Great Commission is given to the church collectively, not just individuals.
- Explanation: God’s purpose for His people is fulfilled through partnership in spreading the gospel worldwide.
Acts 13:2-3 – “Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.”
Mission is carried out in teams, not alone.
- Explanation: Partnership ensures accountability, encouragement, and greater reach.
3.His Purpose has a Provision
Matt 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
How Purpose and Provision Work Together
1.Purpose precedes provision: God doesn’t give resources randomly; He provides in alignment with His mission for us.
2.Provision is often revealed step by step: Like manna in the wilderness (Exodus 16), God gives what is needed daily, not all at once.
3.Provision includes people: God often sends helpers, mentors, or community to support His purpose (e.g., Barnabas with Paul in Acts 9).
4.Provision builds trust: It teaches reliance on God rather than self-sufficiency.
Practical Application
- Identify God’s purpose: Ask, “What has God called me to do in this season?”
- Trust His provision: Instead of worrying about resources, lean on promises like Philippians 4:19.
- Act in faith: Provision often comes after obedience—Peter only saw the miraculous catch of fish when he obeyed Jesus’ word (Luke 5:5–6).
- Gratitude and stewardship: Recognize provision as a gift and use it wisely for His glory.
