SOCIAL MEDIA IMPACT ON SPIRITUAL LIFE

Spirituality is not the Christian culture but it is totally about CHRIST CHARACTER

Matthew 5:28

(But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart)

Note;- In new Testament Jesus Christ is saying if a person looks lustful look

Note:-  LOOKS WILL COME FROM INNER THOUGHTS AND FIRST HE LOOKS IN MOBILE AND THAT LOOK ,INNER THOUGHT IN MIND WILL LEAD TO OUTER LOOKS ,SO JESUS CHRIST IS TELLING ABOUT THE FUTURE HOW TECHNOLOGY WILL EFFECT THE SPIRITUAL LIFE  AT THAT TIME (2000 yrs back ago when there was no tech)

See we have different types of cultures in world
Western,  European, Asian
But As a Christian and Christ follower we have only one culture CHRIST CULTURE

Spirituality is not about good and bad but it talks about word (HOLY)

1.God’s Nature (Isaiah 6:3)
Hebrew/Greek Meaning (Qodesh / Hagios)
God is utterly distinct, pure, and glorious

2.Believers’ Calling (1 Peter 1:15–16)
Set apart, consecrated
Christians are commanded to reflect God’s holiness

3.Daily Practice (Ephesians 4:24)
Purity, righteousness
Holiness is lived out in character and conduct

Impact of social media on Spiritual life

The Nature of Social Media

Positive Impact

Connection & Fellowship: Social media can spread the Gospel, encourage believers, and provide access to sermons, devotionals, and testimonies.

- Hebrews 10:24-25: “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together… but encouraging one another.”

Witness & Light: Sharing faith online can be a way to “shine your light before others” (Matthew 5:16).

Negative Impact

Distraction & Addiction: Endless scrolling can steal time meant for prayer, meditation, and family.

- Ephesians 5:15-16: “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.”

- Comparison & Pride: Social media often fuels envy, pride, and insecurity.

- Galatians 6:4: “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.”

- Unwholesome Speech: Online arguments, gossip, or negativity can corrupt spiritual growth.

- Ephesians 4:29: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up.”

Practical Guidance for Balance

Set Boundaries: Limit time online to protect prayer and study.

Discern Content: Follow accounts that uplift faith, avoid those that stir envy or lust.

Transform Use: Treat social media as a mission field—share testimonies, scripture, and encouragement.

Practice Silence: Step away regularly for fasting from digital noise to hear God’s voice.

The Spiritual Battle Online

Social media magnifies the battle between flesh and spirit.

- Galatians 5:16: “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

- Philippians 4:8: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right… think about such things.”

When used wisely, social media can be a tool for spiritual renewal. When misused, it can erode intimacy with God. The key is intentionality—choosing to glorify Christ in every post, comment, and click.

Main points :-

Social media — influence on our life

The term "influence" refers to the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself. It can manifest in various forms, such as:

Social Influence: The way people are affected by others in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Cultural Influence: The impact of cultural norms, values, and practices on individuals and societies.

Personal Influence: The effect one person has on another through their actions, words, or presence.

Influence can be both positive and negative. For example:

Positive Influence: A mentor guiding someone toward personal growth.

Negative Influence: Peer pressure leading to harmful behavior.

Understanding influence helps us recognize how external factors shape our decisions and actions.
